Sampaloc of the 7 Lakes

San Pablo City, Laguna is two (2) hours drive from Manila via SLEX (Southern Luzon Express way). It is located nearby Quezon and Batangas in CALABARZON area.

San Pablo City is well known for coconut products and its seven (7) lakes, pandin, yambo, palakpakin, kalibato, mohicap, bunot and the most popular- Sampaloc Lake as it is the most accessible of all the said lakes. The said seven lakes are rich in “Tilapia” and other sea foods like bangus and hito.

How to get there? If you’ll be travelling by bus, take bus going to “Lucena” in Cubao. It will take about 2 hours travel. You’ll be passing other nearby municipalities like Sta.Rosa, Calamba Laguna and Sto.Thomas Batangas. Get down in the main City proper near the legendary “Manggahan” near the Catholic church and 7/11 store. Ride a single trip tricycle which will take only less than 15 minutes reaching Sampaloc Lake. Bus transpo cost is like 170 Php and a single tricycle may cost only 20 to 40 Php. Quite cheap right? And if you'll travel by your car, take SLEX, pass by Sta. Rosa and Turbina in Calamaba, Laguna and Sto. Thomas, Batangas. When you reached the city proper, take the road next Jollibee Plaza and go straight ahead.

I recommend you to visit the said lake from 4:00A M to 4:00 PM. Most Sanpablenyos _ resident of San Pablo City, are doing their exercise routine by stretching and running around the lake or if you want to experience a romantic like lovers in Seoul, Korea, rent single bicycles for only 20 Php per ride around the lake under its falling leaves from its natural trees. You can capture the brilliant view of the lake where you’ll be seeing different structures nearby like the "Iglesia ni Cristo” church. (shown in the photo) and the City Capitol.

Got hungry? Well, street foods are available around. There’s beef and chicken mami, burgers, inihaws like chicken feet, isaw and hotdogs, palamig and the most popular fruit drink in the city, buko juice. If you prefer some air conditioned food carts, there’s "Mini Stop” convenience store next to the city capitol and few coffee and food shops like Café Lago. Aling Meding mansion and restaurant is also located just around the lake for formal dining where you can see a better view of the lake from the mansion’s terrace.

In 2014, the city government started to do modern landscaping designs around the lake and more proposed designs are under approval for future amenities will be built on the area.
